 The small office building is sleek and modern, situated at Switch Street and Mercy Road. It features a ground floor, two floors above that and a basement. The office spaces are open in terms of floor plan and most of the meeting rooms and offices have glass walls. There are many plants within the building and on its outside walls. Maintenance is managed by the building administrators. There is one communal space on each floor: a break room with simple kitchen set-up/microwave and toaster oven, and bathrooms. There are high ceilings and big windows, and predominantly dark wood where it isn't basic tile or glass. There are security cameras throughout the building with the exception of the basement.  Built on a formerly empty lot in the Up, this park caters to a particular crowd. As the sign says, it's a Dog Park, but it's intended for a very specific kind of play involving those who want to wear the collars as well as those who are interested in holding their leashes. A smaller sign posted on the gate includes the rules that all people need to abide by in order to enter. All pets must be collared and leashed properly in order to enter the Dog Park, and owners must remain in close proximity to their pets at all times. Inside there are toys for tugging and fetching, a few pieces of special playground equipment, benches for owners to sit and chat and plenty of space to run around. |

 The main branch of Duplicity's public library is a dated-looking brick building that stands apart from the sleeker glass and steel buildings around it. Inside there are worn, but comfortable chairs scattered among the stacks, a small area with computers and printers and a community events board where people can post flyers, and a few private rooms which can be reserved for more dedicated study — or playing out personal fantasies as long as you keep the volume down. It's still a library, after all. Shh! There is a robust fiction section spanning many genres (though it does tend to skew toward the erotic), along with sections containing books on nature, basic biology and chemistry, self help, sex and wellness, Dominant and Submissive roles and dynamics, general Duplicity law and contract law. Curiously, there are no books on the history of Duplicity. Nor are there any on the LIEs Program, the deceit gene, government or politics, religion, geography outside of the city, or outer space. It is rumored that during the late hours of the evening, if proper tribute is made to the waters of the fountain, a wish will be granted; none of this has any concrete evidence to backup the claims though. |

 After an earthquake, something strange has appeared. Several hours trek into the woods on the outskirts of the city, there it stands: a tall, matte black, four-sided obelisk jutting toward the sky like an accusatory finger. About fifteen feet up the stone, odd sigils are carved deep into the surface. Aside from disturbed earth around the base, it's not clear how it got here. It looks like it juts up from the Down. It's cool to the touch and feels a little gritty. Any attempts to take stone samples will fail. It's harder than it looks and impervious to high heat, extreme cold, acid, or concussive blows.  Located in the Down, The Arena functions as a basic gym/training center during the day. Though not nearly as well off or as elaborate as gyms in the Up, it is unique in that it focuses in martial arts and hand-to-hand combat; most of its (limited) training equipment is geared towards such. Punching bags, weights for strength training, etc. Its hours to perform are limited as well because the true draw happens at night. That's when The Arena truly comes to life. After sunset, the Arena converts itself in to a straight-up fighting ring, hosting fights of Submissive against Submissive, Dominant against Dominant.  Located in the Down, the Community Center is situated in a formerly abandoned school building near South Park and designed to serve those in the LIERS program with a variety of services both recreational and practical. It features a weekly market for essentials, spaces for gatherings, classes in various hobbies as well as those more suited for Duplicity. The classes are meant to assist newcomers and those confused with how the city works, as well as BDSM classes with a focus on safe words, safety, and contracts. There's also classes on modern technology and digital literacy for those without any experience due to their previous life. The facility also offers basic regular self-defense classes. There is also gym equipment, training equipment, spaces designed for mingling and community organization efforts.  Located in an old warehouse in the Swallow district, Patch's Gym may not be much to look at on the outside (or, to be honest, on the inside) but it's a haven for anyone who just wants a no frills physical workout, or maybe just get through some misplaced aggression on something that won't cause any problems down the line. This isn't somewhere you go to when you want a jog on a treadmill and a wheatgrass smoothie. This place is for getting as sweaty as possible and maybe picking up a bruise or two. There's a decent range of equipment for strength training, cardio, fencing, and yoga, though some of it is a little outdated. The punching bags in particular are second hand and clearly patched up many times, though they're sturdy enough to take what most people want to throw at them. There's a boxing ring and a couple of spare back rooms for classes, as well as lockers for securing any personal items, though they don't always shut properly, so it's best to travel light. The gym opens late and stays open until well after midnight for those with unusual working patterns. Anyone wanting an early morning workout will need to look elsewhere. There's also a large communal shower room, and the staff definitely don't care what goes on in there -- just as long as you don't cause any trouble.  Deep in the underbelly of the Down lies an intricate cave system. Those who venture in may find any number of adventure – diving, cave jumping, a decent hike – but the truly lucky few will stumble over Perfidy Springs. Here, without a map or guide to find the way in and out, the fortunate discover a little oasis. Smooth rock and heated pools line the main strip, leading to hidden alcoves for added privacy. The only light is artificial, if brought along, but there are left behind candles that can be used. Deep in the caves surrounding the Down, far past Perfidy Springs, live a group of pale, plainly dressed people calling themselves the Dresita. According to their lore, they were a group of unhappy Dominants who saw little in the life of freedom-less luxury held by Duplicity and sought someone to save them from that unhappiness; who stepped up was the one now calling herself the Domadora, a charismatic woman who dresses herself in finery and lives above the rest, keeping evil at bay by martyring herself to the sweet temptations of riches. As a people who believe that luxuries can only hold one down and tempt them into sin, they live purely on what they're given. The cave offers plenty of small fauna and flora to take advantage of, the rock their residences, they use a bartering system in the market that stars centerfold in front of the Domadora's accommodations, yet they accept Duplicity's currency all the same... Nonetheless, these people have few rules to their lives, and they're very heavy-handed. Ask anyone, they'll tell you: Once you accept the Domadora's hand, you cannot leave the caves. You forsake every luxury and false freedom Duplicity offered to you. Sex is a sin thanks to how encouraged it is in the city, and the only marks these people have are henna lines scattered across their body. They seek to continue to pass on these marks from themselves to others; seeing it as a necessity over anything binding, and with the arrival of LIERs to the caves they've set up a kind of brothel area. Exchange their sins (the lines) so that they can be free. These men and women with black marks on their skin are calling for sexual salvation. |

 The clang of metal on metal, the smell of fire and hot metal, the warmth of a gentle oven spreading from wide-open doors heralds a medium-sized and friendly-looking building. If one set of doors is open, the view is into a thing seemingly out of what some might think of as 15th-19th Century Earth; a large and fully stocked forge, with anvils, forge fire, and many tools. Here, items made of metal can be made, whether they belong in the modern age or times past. If the other main set of doors is open, then the view is into a counter area and behind it, the interior of a machine shop, some of which looks like modern machinery, and some of which will look decidedly futuristic to those from 21st century Earth.  The main floor resembles a locals bar in the West. A long, hardwood bar takes up the far wall with bar stools spaced along it, and a large neon sign behind it proclaims the name of the bar. The stools match the table and chairs throughout the room, each outfitted with a frosted glass and candle to add a bit of intimacy to the already dim light. Along either side of the room there are booths with high curved backs that offer a bit of intimacy and privacy. A small stage is tucked into one corner with enough room for an upright piano and a pair of stools for singers or guitarists, and music is provided several nights a week. Before the stage is a matching, and intimately small, dance floor that is definitely more for cuddling to music than actually dancing. Beside the bar is a staircase leading to the lower level. Opposite the stage across the room in the other corner is a mechanical bull for any willing to give it a whirl. The drinks include standard well drinks and marked magical drinks to help those that can't get drunk from standard liquor. There are bar foods for light meals and noshing that are delivered from an on site kitchen. There's also a sign over the bar, put there by a previous owner, that informs guests that: There will be no sex in the main room. Maybe the new owners don't enforce this, maybe they're why the rule was made, but the sign remains. The lower level has something for anyone wanting to try their luck as a small casino occupies the space, including a few slot machines, poker tables, and spaces for blackjack and other games of luck and chance as well. Should anyone arrive with the intent of causing harm or trouble, entry will be barred by Stark Security Bots. The casino is also monitored by Stark Security to prevent cheating. There is a vault on the lower level, accessible only to a few, that includes a secret section containing a weapons cache that was installed by the original owner. « « « SEXUAL LIBERATION UNBLOCKING TREATMENT
 At a Sexual Liberation Unblocking Treatment center, found in both the Up and the Down, clients participate in mandatory therapies and liberation services for up to 24 hours or longer. This program is designed to rehabilitate those who struggle to access their true sexual desires. This intensive in-patient program can be used at any time and has a 100% success rate. Procedures are relatively painless, and all facilities are clean and quiet. The SLUT center is specifically for those who cannot or will not meet quota. Quota is mandatory for those who are not citizens of Duplicity and those who refuse (for whatever reason) are sent to the SLUT center to encourage them to meet their quota. They'll be given a drug that renders them unconscious and when they wake up they'll gradually (over several hours) begin to feel the urge to have sex. The longer they hold out the stronger it will be towards a particular kink. If they don't indulge in that kink by choice before the week is out it'll be as if the choice is taken and they'll do it anyway. (Please see the FAQ for more info on the SLUT Center's mechanics!) |

 While public transportation, trains and buses, is available for use, the main – and simplest – way to get between the Up and the Down is the elevator system. At the center of Duplicity is an enclosed elevator that makes trips every half hour. They stop at either the Up or the Down, load passengers, and make a ten minute trip the opposite direction. This service is free to all citizens. There are some buildings in the Up that have their own personal elevator system but use of them is restricted. Characters MUST scan their device at the border checkpoint when they move between the Up/Down. Scanning the device logs how long they have been out of the zone of their residence. If this time deviates greatly from the time they declared they would be gone for, they may end up questioned or detained by checkpoint guards. For characters who do not use the elevator but use the tunnels or some form of teleportation, they have a half hour window to 'check in' at the checkpoint office before the gangs in the Down or the SIN guards in the Up take notice and begin to track them down. « « « THE SOLACE TREES
