I have a question about tracking assets. If they ever sell or change assets, how do we track what monetary amounts they should have from it? Like, if something gets sold, how can we track that we have this lump of money like 12 months down the line when we want to use it for something else?

Because right now money seems to be arbitrary, but this page has made objects and property tracked. So if we move property to an arbitrary amount instead of directly trading it in for another property, it seems like it's thrown to the aether and questionable if it can be retrieved.

The money for employee salaries for managing the building comes directly from renting out space in the building. It started out with just Jon doing this by himself. He had previously had a job working at a native-run museum before he had the building that he was using to build up the funds to purchase a small office space for his work. These funds were used to start operations in the building once he had it. Then the rent became the primary source of income/capital.

« How did the character attain the income to buy/rent the house?: Huaisang worked as a private shopper (unofficial business, no location) for several months before purchasing his first two houses (Tianya and the Dog Kennel). His private shopper service was extremely popular and he expensively dressed over a dozen player characters in addition to a proportionally large number of NPCs. Huaisang also has an interest in investment and economics, as does Meng Yao, and both of them have been actively working on investment and economics since their first months in the game. This has been frequently played out and mentioned and has also come into play with other PCs: Huaisang has offered small investments or partnerships with other pending businesses (Insecurity, Falling Water Temple, Magic Bell) in proportion to his confidence in their business plan, and he has been also investing in NPC businesses and opportunities accordingly.

« How did the character acquire the funding to start the business where applicable?: Same as above (private shopper business, investments), plus a business loan from an NPC bank. Plumage has been enormously successful with other PC characters, especially after the promotional event from the city, so he is paying back that business loan very rapidly. Paradise has only just opened but he would have funded that with partly his own funds and partly a loan from an NPC bank after proving his excellent credit (as discussed) and the thriving profit of Plumage.
